Solar Source, an affiliate of the Melanson Co. Inc, of Keene, NH commissioned a 29 KWP solar electric system at the AC Hathorne Co. in Williston, VT on 5/10/11.
The PV system features 130 US made modules which are mounted to the roof with a new roof integrated, non penetrating mounting system. This innovative mounting solution resolves the risks of added structural loads, wind uplift and roofing manufacturer warranty issues of common ballasted and racked commercial PV systems. “Now our customers can maximize their flat roof asset by generating reliable, clean electricity with these innovative, integrated mounting systems without compromising their warranty” reports John Kondos Solar Source manager.
The PV arrays feed two inverters which provide the 3 phase electricity to the building and are connected to the grid by net metering. Net metering allows utility ratepayers to generate their own energy with renewable systems and run their meter backwards when producing excess power. This system will benefit from the Green Mountain Power SolarGMP program, which recognizes the peak power savings of net metered solar electricity and pays for the excess kilowatt hours generated.
In NH commercial solar electric system customers have access to the same federal incentives of a tax credit for the installed cost and accelerated depreciation and a state rebate while funds last.
The Melanson Co. is a family owned business, headquartered in Keene with facilities throughout NH and VT providing roofing solutions to residential and commercial customers since 1932.
